Who we are

Open Todo is a free, open-source task management app. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled when you use the service at todo.homan.pro.

What we collect

We collect only what is needed to run the service:

Email address — when you create an account, so you can sign in and recover access.
Your tasks and lists — stored in our cloud database so they sync across your devices.
Basic usage analytics — anonymized page views and error reports to help us fix bugs. No personal identifiers are included.

We do not collect your name, phone number, payment details, or any other personal information beyond the above.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to:

Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
Sync your tasks and lists across devices.
Understand how the app is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Full stop.

Sub-processors

We use the following third-party infrastructure providers to operate the service. Your data passes through or is stored by them:

Vercel — hosts and serves the application.
Neon — managed PostgreSQL database where your account and task data is stored.

Both providers operate under their own privacy and security policies. We do not authorise them to use your data for any purpose other than providing their services to us.

Where data is stored

Your data is stored in Neon's managed PostgreSQL infrastructure. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We take reasonable precautions to protect it, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app settings, which permanently removes your tasks and account information from our database.

Your rights (GDPR & similar)

If you're in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data.
Delete your data (right to erasure).
Export your data in a portable format.

Cookies

We use session cookies only to keep you signed in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

The short version

Open Todo is a free, open-source app. You own your data. We provide the service as-is, with no guarantees of uptime or fitness for a particular purpose. Use it fairly and we'll keep the lights on.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use Open Todo. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Using the service

Open Todo is provided free of charge. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and no hidden fees. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

You agree not to:

Use the service to store or transmit illegal content.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service infrastructure.
Create accounts automatically or in bulk without permission.

Your data belongs to you

We don't claim any rights to your tasks, lists, or any content you create in Open Todo. Your data is yours. You can export or delete it at any time. See the Privacy Policy for details on how we handle it.

Open source

Open Todo's source code is open source and available on GitHub. The code is released under the MIT License — you're free to read it, fork it, and run your own instance.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that Open Todo will be available at all times, error-free, or suitable for any specific purpose. Use it for things that matter to you, but don't rely on it as your sole system of record for critical information.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Open Todo and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including data loss.

Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service. If we do so, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you first unless the situation requires immediate action.

You can close your account at any time from the app settings. This permanently deletes your data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising from your use of Open Todo will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Open Todo after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
